Israel: Taking it to the Streets in 2007
San Francisco, December 20, 2006
Against the backdrop of the Holocaust-denier conference in Iran, BlueStarPR took positive steps today to fight back with a positive public awareness promoting Israel. Launching today, BlueStarPR is elevating Israel's curb appeal through a new campaign of 200 billboards, posters and advertisements on public transit in San Francisco.
Faced with Iran's numerous, vocal anti-Israel diatribes, it is easy to understand how vulnerable Israelis feel today, but sometimes it is hard to remember that Jews everywhere are targeted when Israel is vilified. Think of the Seattle massacre in the Federation building, or the ongoing threats against Jews in France, or the acts of physical intimidation against Jewish students on campuses throughout the US and Canada.
BlueStarPR follows the wisdom of former Israeli Minister Natan Sharansky: “The only way to combat anti-Israel bias is to speak up. When people know the facts and how to present them, it is usually very easy to cause change.”
To cause the kind of change needed to combat anti-Israel attitudes in the US, BlueStarPR has provided an endless stream of posters, postcards, and DVDs to community activists and students educating their peers about the positive sides of Israel during the past three years.
Now, 2007 is rolling in and BlueStarPR is bringing its most popular and effective messages to the Streets of San Francisco. See below for examples:
Israel Underground
140 posters (22” x 21”) of this design will be placed inside of BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) trains for two months:
Israel on the Ground
8 large posters (47” x 68”) of this design will be placed on stylized kiosks throughout San Francisco for two weeks beginning January 3. Additional designs will be featured for two-week periods in March and June.
Israel in the Air
75 billboards (60” x 132”) of these two designs will be placed throughout San Francisco and Oakland for two months.
Our materials are proven to positively influence Americans holding moderately anti-Israel attitudes. But, even if we do not actually influence one single Israel detractor, we know that we are re-energizing support and appreciation for Israel by Jews, especially in the US. This alone is a worthy goal and is clearly one in which our methods have excelled in achieving in the tough-to-reach, younger Jewish demographic.
Our approach is new and different and BlueStarPR materials make a difference in communities where Israel is most misunderstood. Here are just a few of the letters we recently received from students thanking us for our assistance. This feedback clearly shows how our materials are helping to strengthen Jewish advocacy efforts:
“I never started college with the intention of having to defend what I believe in, but the information being spread on campus by those opposed to Judaism, Israel, and Zionism was so great, that I had to stand up in defense. Thanks to the great product of BlueStarPR, we can inform our campus on Israel’s contributions to the world and the facts of the Israel-Arab conflict in a very efficient manner.” –Michael Avrukin, San Jose State University
“The work that BlueStarPR has done has been nothing short of revolutionary. Their materials are forward thinking, innovative and engaging to young college students across the spectrum.” –Jonathan Brostoff, University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee
“BlueStarPR’s materials have helped us reach students who would otherwise be disinterested in Israel, thinking it has nothing to do with them, their culture or their lives in general.” –Jessica Zipkin, Kent State University
“BlueStarPR fills a crucial niche, building support for and educating people about Israel, on college campuses. In our fast-paced society, students create opinions on issues as important as Israel and Human Rights in the blink of an eye. Your brilliant, humorous, and educational materials communicate effectively and help shape opinions. BlueStarPR campaigns literally create an immediate and tangible pro-Israel momentum and help us build alliances with other groups on campus who care about these important issues.” –Rabbi Yonah Bookstein, Orange County Hillel
