In January 2008, Israel's government endorsed the ambitious plan of Project Better Place to install the world's first electric car network by 2011, with half a million recharging stations to criss-cross the nation. It’s been hailed as a huge step in the fight against global warming. Israel’s ambitious plans to develop green energy technology is making it a global leader in the field.
As of October 2009, charging stations have been installed at Israel’s malls, train stations, and even the entrance to the city of Jerusalem.
