The Jewish dream of returning to the homeland where we would make the desert bloom was the impetus for the founding of Israel in 1948.

Sixty years later, Israel’s sweet and luscious fruits and startlingly fresh vegetables still captivate the imagination - and foreign markets. Hopefully, peace will come soon, enabling Syrians to buy Israeli fruit out in the open.

Now that would be sweet.
