The Ripple Effect

You probably know that Israel is mostly a desert. However, most people do not realize that this beautiful, thriving country is in a water crisis. In the film you are about to see, we will outline for you the challenges Israel faces as it dries up, and what methods the Israeli nation is using to reverse the situation.

NPR recently covered the issue as well. Read it here.

# T Ó hÁinle 2012-04-22 05:24 Many countries have the same need as Israel has to develop the conservation, recycling and efficient harvesting of its scarce water resources. Now Israel seem to be meeting this need with research and investment. Not all countries can find the investment or skill levels that Israel is applying to the issue, but Israel is willing to share the technology. The resulting benefits can be applied to all, it's not an ideological or contentious issue but an area of international co-operation. Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

# Matthew Stephen 2011-12-11 14:43 A right old con. Building a massive export market using resources they simply do not have (namely water). Shipping the majority of that water on jets to foreign nations. Meanwhile Israel gets foreign aid from the USA because of the water shortage. So let's get this right shall we? I pay for the produce from Israel which mostly depends on it's commercial viability (price) and then my taxes get spent on providing the Israeli people the water they need to sell me more vegetables. Solution? Stop buying Israeli produce and force them to build industries that they can support properly. Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

# prasanta misra 2012-04-07 12:26 israeli innovations have taught the world many things on water conservation and its usage.while i do not want to discus the assistance issue, what i want to put right is the fact that countries like india, china, aus tralia and america owe a lot to israel in terms of learning how to use and conserve water..if israel is smart, let uslearn smartness.if e know israel survives in complete hostility, let us learn how to survive from the fanatics.
its good to be critical, also its better to learn.

# prasanta misra 2012-04-07 12:33 way back in mid seventies i had visited israel.the response from israelis was something i can not forget.i had visited their knesset(parliam nt) and the response from their peoples representatives was someting to remember.that was the time when indian government was isolatinf israel politically.
i had invited israeli drip companies to visit india and the journey started.drip irrigation today is a reality in india, manty states have adopted drip irrigation where as westbengal has remained immune to adoption of drip irrigation.it is time that the west bengal government wakes up to nw technologies and revolutionise agricultural practyices in the state.i will be glad to discuss possibilities.
